About Cromore

Cromore (Crò Mòr) is a crofting township on the east coast of Lewis, on a hammerhead shaped peninsula at the mouth of Loch Erisort. The Gazetteer for Scotland notes a modest jetty. Adverts place it in South Lochs, the district on the south side of Loch Erisort.

It is one of the 11 townships of the Pairc Estate, which passed from a private landlord to the community's Pairc Trust in December 2015. The trust gives the estate as about 10,840 hectares, with 213 crofts and around 400 residents. The Commission's register data has 29 crofts under Cromore, in the parish of Lochs.

Primary pupils go to Pairc School at Gravir, whose catchment the council lists as covering Cromore along with the rest of the estate's townships. Secondary means the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway. The W9 South Lochs bus stops at Cromore on its run between Stornoway and Orinsay, between the Eishal junction and Marvig.
