About Eagleton
Eagleton is a small crofting township on the Eye Peninsula, the part of Lewis east of Stornoway that adverts call Point. The Gazetteer for Scotland places it overlooking Bayble Bay, a quarter of a mile south east of Lower Bayble.
The peninsula has one primary school, Sgoil an Rubha, at New Garrabost, and the council lists Eagleton in its catchment along with Bayble, Garrabost, Aird, Portvoller, Shulishader and the other Point townships. Secondary pupils go to the Nicolson Institute. The W5 bus from Stornoway to Upper Bayble and Flesherin passes the airport on its way out and stops at the Eagleton road end, between Lower Bayble and Upper Garrabost.
Eagleton is not a township in its own right in the Crofting Commission's open data: the holdings it names at Eagleton are filed under Lower Bayble, in the parish of Stornoway. Community Land Scotland describes the community owned Stornoway Trust estate as including that parish.
