About Eoropie

Eoropie (Eòrrabaidh) is the northernmost of the closely grouped crofting townships of Ness, at the northern tip of Lewis. The Gazetteer for Scotland puts it immediately north west of Fivepenny and about a mile south of the Butt of Lewis. A short walk to the north east is Teampull Mholuaidh, the restored mediaeval church, which Historic Environment Scotland lists at category A.

Eoropie is one of the 22 townships of the Galson Estate, which the Galson Estate Trust says passed into community ownership on 12 January 2007 and covers 56,000 acres from Upper Barvas to Port of Ness, home to nearly 2,000 people. Crofting Commission figures give 38 crofts at Eoropie, in the parish of Barvas.

Lionel School is the primary for all of Ness, and the council names Eoropie in its catchment. For secondary, pupils travel to the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway. The W1 bus from Stornoway runs all the way up to the Eoropie and Butt of Lewis stop.
