About New Garrabost
New Garrabost is a crofting township on the Eye Peninsula, the stretch of Lewis east of Stornoway that adverts call Point. Garrabost lies by the Gazetteer for Scotland's measure about 6 miles east of Stornoway.
Sgoil an Rubha, the only primary school on the peninsula, has its address at New Garrabost, and its catchment covers Point from Aignish and Knock out to Portvoller, Aird and Flesherin. Secondary pupils go in to the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway. The W5 bus from Stornoway to Upper Bayble and Flesherin has a stop at the school as well as at Garrabost post office.
