About Shulishader
Shulishader (Siùiliseadar) is a crofting township on the north coast of the Eye Peninsula, the part of Lewis that adverts call Point. The Gazetteer for Scotland places it about a mile north west of Sheshader, 1¼ miles east of Garrabost and 7 miles east of Stornoway. Newlands is part of it.
The council spells it Shuilishader in the catchment list for Sgoil an Rubha, the peninsula's primary at New Garrabost, which also names Newlands and offers Gaelic medium classes. Secondary pupils go to the Nicolson Institute. The W5 bus from Stornoway to Upper Bayble and Flesherin stops at Shulishader, between Upper Bayble and the Sheshader shelter, having passed Stornoway Airport on the way out.
The Crofting Commission also spells it Shuilishader, and its open data lists 32 crofts there and 6 at Shuilishader Newlands, in the parish of Stornoway. Community Land Scotland describes the Stornoway Trust's community owned estate as including that parish.
